By GlobalDataThe Saunamaa project will feature eight V150-4.2MW wind turbines whilst the Suolakangas project will include nine V150-4.2MW turbines.
Vestas Northern and Central Europe Sales North and West vice-president Christer Baden Hansen said: “This order, from our valued, long-term partner Valorem, once again underlines our ability to deliver profitable, customised wind energy solutions under merchant market conditions, offering the lowest cost of energy to the Finnish market.
“We thank Valorem for choosing Vestas as a partner for their market entry to Finland and look forward to maximising our customer’s return on investment.”
Vestas intends to begin deliveries in the second quarter of 2020, whilst commissioning is planned for the third quarter of 2020.
The wind parks will be Valorem’s first wind projects in Finland and represent an investment of €80m.
Valorem has entered a joint venture with UK-based fund management business Octopus Energy Investments (OEI) for the construction and operation of the projects.
The French firm will hold a minority stake in the two farms. Valorem, through its subsidiaries Valrea, Valemo and its local partner Megatuuli, will manage the construction and operation of the wind farms.
Construction on the wind farms will begin immediately, with commercial operation expected to reach by late 2020.
Valorem founder and president Jean-Yves Grandidier said: “These two projects mark the beginning of a successful platform for Valorem in the Nordics with a portfolio of more than 700MW of assets under development with developer Megatuuli.”
