Renewable energy and natural gas projects developer Sempra US Gas & Power has acquired the 100MW Apple Blossom wind project in Michigan, US, from wind and solar energy developer Geronimo Energy.
Terms of the transaction have not yet been disclosed.

By GlobalDataLocated in Huron County, construction of the Apple Blossom wind farm is expected to begin in late 2016.
Geronimo Energy president Blake Nixon said: “Geronimo Energy is pleased to work with Sempra US Gas & Power on a second wind farm project in the Midwestern US.
“Sempra US Gas & Power brings impressive wind energy construction and operating expertise and has an aligned mission with Geronimo Energy's farmer-friendly and community-focused approach.”
Following its completion, the new wind project will be able to produce sufficient clean, renewable energy to supply electricity to approximately 38,000 Michigan homes.
Slated to be commercially operational by the end of 2017, the Apple Blossom project is expected to generate employment opportunities for nearly 250 construction workers at peak construction period.
Sempra US Gas & Power Renewables president Kevin C. Sagara said: “We are pleased to have the opportunity to acquire, build and operate the Apple Blossom wind project in the state of Michigan as it continues to position itself as a wind energy leader.
“The acquisition of the Apple Blossom wind project enables our company to continue to invest in the development, construction and operation of renewable energy infrastructure.”
The entire production of the wind farm has been sold to the US public utility company Consumers Energy under a 15-year contract.
Once the Apple Blossom project is completed, Sempra US Gas & Power, its affiliates and joint-venture partners will own wind facilities across eight states in the US, with a total generating capacity of 1,300MW.
