GE Power Conversion, an electrical engineering subsidiary of American technology giant General Electric (GE), has formed a partnership with China’s Shanghai Electric Wind Power Equipment (Sewind) to deliver LV3 wind converters totalling 1GW.

Under the agreement, GE will be supplying its 4MW fully fed LV3 wind converters, which are to be installed at Sewind’s offshore wind projects.

LV3 converters manufactured by GE has been claimed to be ‘ideal’ for offshore wind developments.

The equipment features standardised LV3 power stacks, and can offer increased power density with 25% more output and small footprint as compared to other conventional solutions.

The firm will be manufacturing the converters at its Shanghai facility to reinforce its commitment towards China.
