By GlobalDataIdeol will make use of its Damping Pool technology for the development. The patented technology helps ensure the floating wind turbine’s stability and performance under harsh conditions.
Construction of floating offshore wind in Japan is claimed to have a three times higher potential in comparison to the bottom-fixed offshore wind farms.
Under the new MoU, Ideol and Taisei intend to closely cooperate and make use of their expertise and resources to develop concrete foundations.
Additionally, the partnership will be able to offer floating foundations at lower costs in the country because of the use of concrete. This will benefit both parties as it contributes to fast-track their growth in the domestic floating offshore wind market.
Taisei is a general contractor associated with marine construction including concrete barges. Established in 2010, Ideol has been involved in several floating offshore wind projects from conception to installation.
In partnership with Atlantique Offshore Energy, Ideol is developing a Damping Pool concept based universal floating substation that will be suitable for 40m deep bottom-fixed and floating offshore wind farms.
