Cadeler, a Denmark-based offshore wind industry supplier, has secured a contract to install wind turbines at the 1.2GW Baltic Power offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, 23km north of the Polish coast, near Łeba.

For its first project in the Polish market, Cadeler will transport and install the 76 Vestas offshore turbines under a contract worth between €68 and €85, using one of its O-class installation vessels.

The company plans to include a new and upgraded crane with a lifting capacity of 1,600 metric tonnes at a radius of 40m.

The 130km² project is being developed by Baltic Power, a joint venture project of Orlen and Northland Power.

Vestas will supply the V236-15.0 MW turbines. This will be one of the first projects where this variant will be utilised on a commercial scale.

Construction will begin in 2024 and the turbine installation is expected to take place in 2025. Baltic Power will be completed in 2026.

The project will generate enough clean energy to supply 1.5 million Polish households.

Construction of an onshore substation related to the project began in Choczewo municipality in Poland in May 2023.

The substation will act as a hub for cable lines transmitting electricity 30km from the coast. Almost all of the cable’s 7km onshore section has been routed underground.
