The 2nd Annual PowerSafe Users Roundtable was held from 9 to 10 May 2010, in Atlanta. Nearly 60 utility owners and contractor representatives were in attendance.
The Roundtable provided an opportunity for peer to peer networking, and the sharing of best practices in safety awareness training for utility contractors. Compelling keynote speaker Ron Hayes, founder of Families in Grief Hold Together (FIGHT), opened the two-day conference with a passionate reminder that safety is more than an investment for industry – it is the way industry must conduct its business.
The Roundtable then explored ways to make safety awareness training a fundamental part of a contractor safety management program for the generating and transmission and distribution sectors.
PowerSafe Advisory Group elections were held during the Roundtable. The following were elected to a two-year term: Steve Woodson, Woodson Incorporated; Gerald Arnold, Chain Electric; Mike Jones, Turbo Filtration Corporation; Chris Kelly, Mechanical Construction Services; and alternate Kennth Hebert, TESSCO. Continuing to serve on the PowerSafe Advisory Group are: Chairman, Donald Brignac, Entergy; Co-Chairman, Bob Fitzgerald, Southern Company; Lisa Almazan, Entergy; Tom Dyson, AmerenUE; Nickee Allison, DZ Atlantic; Kevin Loggins, KDM Contractors; and, Kevin Watson, Pike.
