During October a ten-day visit by a delegation from the Nigerian power industry was organised by Aptec Engineers Technical Services Limited.
Aztec Technical Services Limited was contracted to manage the technical content of the course. This was ‘s Aztec Technical Services’ third course in a series of power plant operational and maintenance courses for Aptec and the Nigerian power industry, and as part of the course two power station visits were organised.
The first visit was to Veolia Environmental Services site at Chineham in Hampshire. This visit allowed the delegation to see how energy could be generated from waste, and with Veolia being the leading supplier of energy to the UK grid system using this technology, the visit was greeted with great enthusiasm.
The second visit was to Baglan Bay Power Station in South Wales. The station was in the middle of an outage which meant there was a great opportunity to show the delegation the internals of the GE machines used by the station.
Both station visits were much appreciated by the delegation, and our thanks must go to Andy Macqueen of Veolia, Chineham and Mark Griffiths of Baglan Bay Power Station for delivering these very appropriate technical tours.
