European Technology Development (ETD) has completed its new ‘Guidelines for Power Plant Preservation’, which is now available for purchase to industry worldwide. It is also in the process of completing a project for preparing ‘Guidelines for the Commissioning of CCGT’s’, followed by a set of guidelines for the commissioning of conventional power plants.
Both the ‘Preservation’ and ‘Commissioning’ based projects are multi-client or Group Sponsored Projects (GSPs) in which ETD and its experts / consultants carry out all the work with costs shared between sponsoring organisations. In this way each organisation pays only a fraction of the total project cost yet gets the full benefit of the project results.
Details of the projects / guidelines are as follows:
1) Guidelines for Power Plant Preservation
ETD’s completed multi-client or Group Sponsored Project (GSP) on the "Short and Long Term Preservation (Layup) of Conventional and Combined Cycle Power Plants" is now available. The comprehensive 69 page Guidelines document produced is available to purchase. Further information on the Guidelines and report content can be seen via the following link, which shows all available reports:

Extracts from feedback received from those who have already purchased the Guidelines are shown below:
i) "Thank you for the final report which we found very useful. …… we (also) found the report beneficial in that we could reference the content as an official document to prove to any third parties should we be questioned on the methodology behind our preservation actions. Many thanks for the report which we shall utilise and use for any further needs."
Intergen, UK
ii) "The Report increases our confidence level ….. cost benefit is well balanced ….. we believe we got adequate value for money."
Portugen, Portugal
iii) "The content of the Report we found to be comprehensive in terms of the subject matter and believe it is a useful reference for plants ……… the report in itself is a very useful document as it covers preservation techniques for both short and extended periods. ………. (also) a useful reference for the future …….. the document is a good cross reference to ensure we have considered all aspects of the plant in our onsite Preservation Procedure and we believe it was money well spent."
Gensys Power, Ireland
2) CCGT Commissioning Guidelines
This is a new multi-client or Group Sponsored Project (GSP), which ETD started at the request of power plant manufacturers, owners and operators. The proposal shows in detail the areas and topics being covered in this project. This project is due to be completed by early 2014.
