S.T.Cotter Turbine Services, Inc (ST CTS) was recently awarded a major inspection contract for the City of Tallassee’s Siemens Westinghouse unit number 1 steam turbine located at their Arvah B. Hopkins generating station. This was a competitive bid situation and there were multiple companies bidding for this award, which was given to ST CTS.
The contract was a major inspection of an 80,000 KW Siemens Westinghouse steam turbine, this included grit blasting, non-destructive examination of all steam path and electrical parts, all electrical testing and technical direction. The eight week outage was accomplished without a single injury or near miss and was on time and on budget. All work, including steam path repairs, parts, engineering and project management was handled seamlessly and from one point of contact.
