Ing Enea Mattei, a producer of industrial generating sets with diesel and gas engines, has been operating in the energy industry for over 75 years. Thanks to its takeover of Officine Meccaniche Ingegner Contaldi (OMIC), it has experience stretching back to 1886.
Besides being a leader in the Italian market, the company also operates in foreign markets through its distributors and business partners. Thanks to its long experience in the industry, Mattei can meet any type of energy requirement.
Diesel-engine generating sets
Mattei constantly follows the evolution of diesel engines worldwide, offering generating sets whose engine capacity and performances meet specific customer requirements. Its offer, in fact, covers six different areas: ‘standard’ generating sets, power plants, special installations, turnkey systems, cogeneration sets and use of renewable energies.
Standard generating sets
The standard generating sets are mainly subdivided in three basic categories:
- OMIC series, small-sized generating sets from 10kVA to 40kVA at 1,500rpm/3,000rpm
- Light Range series: medium-sized generating sets up to 720kVA at 1,500rpm
- Heavy Range series: large-sized generating sets of 3,000kVA at 1,500rpm
Customised generating sets
Mattei can develop special designs and/or programmes aimed at the realisation of turnkey, high-tech energy production systems complying with customer specifications and specific operating conditions. In such cases the technical/management complexity requires the adoption of a specific coordination method, carried out by highly specialised personnel taking advantage of business resources and methodologies to perform the various functional processes.
Mattei’s high level of expertise ensures optimum project development, especially when a highly specialised specific product is requested. When developing a project for the realisation of a generation system, the company takes into account all operating conditions that affect proper system operation and that can be extremely critical.
Conditions to be controlled and systems to be provided for include high and low ambient temperature, sand and dust, noise, vibrations, fuel supply, cooling, exhaust gas evacuation, electromagnetic compatibility, monitoring and control.
Generating set design and development
The mission of Mattei’s job design and development department is offering effective support to the customer, to identify the best technical and functional solutions. Mattei’s specialised staff thoroughly analyse the design specifications, highlighting their peculiarities, and assess the materials and costs associated with proper installation. The company thus prepares a detailed technical and economical offer, developing a preliminary design if required.
This collaboration, appreciated by its customers, allows Mattei to effectively deal with the various technical and organisational problems that occur during development of the generating set, until the set targets are fully achieved. The experiences it gains allow it to improve and fine-tune standard products.
After-sale service for gensets
To ensure the full efficiency of its gensets, Mattei prepares a set of contracts. Mattei undertakes to train each customer’s maintenance staff for the execution of all routine operations related to gensets, reserving for itself only the major tasks. This contract also provides for some hours of training in class and control inspections.
A planned maintenance contract provides for a series of predefined interventions, whose frequency depends on the number of work hours. A full service contract provides for the full management of the system, for both routine and extraordinary maintenance.
Genset R&D and ISO 9001-approved quality management system
Mattei’s products and services are the outcome of continuous technological research that aims to improve performances and reliability. The company wants its customers to be satisfied in every stage of their relationship with it, both before the sale and after plant delivery. Its quality management system complies with the ISO 9001 standard.
