As a company that has been making flexible, removable, and reusable insulation jackets (also known as pillows, blankets, covers, and mats) for close to 60 years, CJ van Waas BV understands that there are several important things to take into account when insulating highly specialised types of equipment such as turbines.

At Van Waas, we have the knowledge and experience to provide our customers with an assortment of self-developed removable insulation jackets, flexible connections, flange protectors and soundproof boxes. We are a modern and flexible company (VCA* certified) that provides our customers with tailor-made solutions for all their insulation challenges.

Flexible and reusable insulation jackets for turbines

The econtras® flexible turbine insulation system by Van Waas has continuously proven itself over the years, but is never at a standstill. As new materials and techniques are developed over time, our experts make sure we continue to offer our customers the best flexible insulation solutions available.

Using high-quality certified materials, we create each system custom to the specific turbine insulation project so we can minimise our customers’ heat and energy losses. Our experience and expert personnel cause us to work efficiently, keeping our customers’ downtime for insulation at a minimum.

Van Waas is an expert at insulating all kinds of turbines. We insulate our turbines with a special system of econtras® flexible and reusable insulation jackets.

Our flexible insulation jackets reduce heat loss by 85% on average while protecting the insulated objects from outside elements such as liquids, oil and dirt.

We can tackle a very wide range of insulation challenges for our customers. With 27 different types of fabric and over six fastening options to choose from, we provide that perfect fit.

Our flexible econtras® acoustic insulation can be applied directly onto the body of an object, but can also be built into a removable enclosure using a steel frame and insulating panels.

Steam valve insulation jackets

One uninsulated steam valve loses 2,500m³ natural gas and emits 10t of CO2 per year, according to independent knowledge institute NCTI (Dutch Centre for Technical Insulation). By insulating valves, flanges and fittings in CV, thermal oil, steam and hot water installations with high-quality econtras insulation jackets, you can reduce this energy loss by 85% on average.

Our customers start their energy savings and CO2 emission reductions as soon as the jackets are in place. This often results in a payback time for our jackets of less than one year.

econtras insulation:

 • Saves energy (reduces heatloss with 85% on average)
 • Reduces your CO2 emissions
 • Pays for itself in months rather than years
 • Consists of 70% recycled materials
 • Enjoys a warranty under normal circumstances
 • Creates a safer working environment
 • Various fastening options to choose from
 • Is fast and easy to install, remove and reinstall

Thermal, acoustic and fire-protective insulation

With econtras insulation jackets, Van Waas provides high-quality solutions for thermal, acoustic and fire-protective insulation challenges in industrial processes. We regularly insulate:

 • Steam and gas turbines
 • Circulation pumps
 • Valves and flanges
 • Steammanyfolds
 • Drain valves
 • Manholes
 • Boilerfronts
 • Combined heat and power pants
 • Generators
 • Compensators
 • Process output system

Our experts can custom-make all of our products to customers’ exact specifications or to meet their needs. We are happy to take on-site measurements but also work with specifications provided to us by our customers.

With 27 different types of fabric and more than six fastening options, we can serve our customers in very diverse situations.

Thermal insulation for turbines, valves, flanges and fittings

The main industrial use for econtras thermal insulation blankets is to insulate turbines and valves, flanges and fittings. Temperatures from 0°C to 1,600°C are drastically reduced so our customers save energy and protect their personnel at the same time. As they need less energy, our customers put less strain on the environment (reduce CO2 emissions) while saving on energy costs.

econtras ‘heatpacks’ are used indoors as well as outdoors to protect important measuring equipment from conditions in its surroundings. The heatpacks usually consist of a silicone cover with filling, outfitted with a see-through window to have visual access to the measuring equipment.

Flange spray shields

Our flange spray shields protect against the spraying of fluids, detect leaks (orange signal textile), let leaks flow away in a controlled manner, provide thermal protection, are available in various forms, and are quick and easy to install, remove and reinstall.

Fire protection for power plants

econtras fire protection helps to shut down critical installations in a controlled way. It offers protection from 15min to 2hr and up to 1,600°C.

Bellows for thermal and acoustic insulation

Our bellows absorb axial, lateral and angulair movements, insulate thermally and acoustically, reduce vibrations, and are quick and easy to install, remove and reinstall.

Acoustic insulation enclosures

Our flexible econtras acoustic enclosures are fast and simple to assemble and disassemble. They consist of a frame covered with sound-reducing panels, which are attached to each other with a special velcro fastening.

The enclosures are lightweight, low cost and are a great solution for those acoustic problems where these qualities take precendence over the robustness of a metal enclosure. Acoustic insulation can also be applied, without a frame, directly to the body of an object.
