Steelcon, Europe’s No 1 producer of steel chimneys, have designed and constructed a 25m-high multiflue chimney for a rapeseed and biomass energy plant incorporating CHP near Stratford-Upon-Avon, UK.
The chimney is designed according to EN 1993-3-2 and the EN 13084 series of specifications.
The chimney was delivered in just one section complete with three insulated liners, two from corten steel and one from stainless steel to suit the operating conditions.
The chimney has emission sampling points to each liner and associated service platforms all according to the Environmental Agency TGN M1 recommendations. It is also fitted with aircraft warning lights and a safety ladder at the top of the chimney to facilitate future inspections and maintenance.
The platforms and access ladders are designed and fabricated according to EN 14122-3 and 4 respectively, while the chimney is finished with a surface treatment to EN 12944-5:2000 class C3.
Steelcon’s experienced erection team completed the installation within two days, including the assembly of the service platform.
Steelcon is pleased to have successfully completed this project, which is the first brand-new large-scale rapeseed processing facility in the UK since the 1980s.
