Under the deal, Siemens Gamesa will build a wind complex in Australia, which will combine the installation of a windfarm featuring its 56 SG 3.4-132 turbines.

SGRE has also agreed to build a 20MW/34MW Li-ion battery energy storage system that will be integrated with the windfarm.

“Construction works will begin immediately and the new facility is expected to be commissioned by next August.”

The turbine manufacturer has also agreed to maintain the entire project for a period of 25 years.

Construction works will begin immediately and the new facility is expected to be commissioned by next August.

It is reported that the facility has already signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the Victorian state government for the next 15 years, and a ten-year PPA has been signed with Australian agribusiness Nectar Farms, who will be using the clean energy to power LED light technology to grow tomatoes in glasshouses.

During the low wind periods, Nectar Farms will receive the power stored in the batteries.

The new EPC contract is said to be the fourth contract that has been undertaken by SGRE for Neoen in Australia.

Siemens Gamesa has also been active in other Asia Pacific regions that extend to countries such as China, South Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan and New Zealand.
