Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) has selected C3 Energy’s smart grid analytics software to achieve its goal of ensuring cost-effective, efficient and reliable energy delivery as it continues to develop the information technology-enabled infrastructure known as the smart grid.
BGE, which serves more than 1.25 million electric customers and approximately 650,000 gas customers in Central Maryland, will employ C3 Energy smart grid analytics across all of its nearly two million electric and gas meters.

By GlobalDataThe first phase of the deployment, which involves implementation of C3 Revenue Protection and C3 AMI Operations, will be initiated in the second quarter of 2014.
Some of the focus areas of BGE’s partnership with C3 Energy will include AMI operations, revenue assurance, customer experience and system planning. AMI analytics are expected to unlock tens of millions of dollars in annual recurring value for BGE.
The capabilities will range from meter troubleshooting to evaluation of the effectiveness of demand response and energy efficiency programmes.
C3 Energy president and chief technology officer Ed Abbo said utilities are embracing innovation to move towards a more efficient, responsive, data-enabled future.
