Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in August 2020 with 31 contracts and a 30.1% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 29 contracts and a 28.2% share and Electricity Procurement with 21 contracts and a 20.4% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement: 18 contracts and an 85.7% share
  2. Electricity Supply: three contracts and a 14.3% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific electricity procurement contracts in August 2020

Looking at electricity procurement contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for ten contracts with a 47.6% share, followed by wind with five contracts and a 23.8% share and hydro with four contracts and a 19% share.

The top issuers of electricity procurement contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. MP Power Management (India): 1,000MW from one contract
  2. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (India): 350MW from three contracts
  3. Stanwell: 348MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. NHPC (India): 1,300MW from two contracts
  2. Lacour Energy Pty (Australia) and Goldwind Australia Pty (Australia): 348MW from one contract
  3. Juniper Green Energy Pvt (India): 190MW capacity from one contract.
