The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has again extended the bid submission deadline for 81MW of solar power projects in Telangana state because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The projects include 34MW of ground-based solar photovoltaic power plants in Chennur and Kothagudam as well as a 32MW grid-interactive solar plant in Ramagundam and Dorli sites. Bothe now have an additional 14 days to submit bids.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has finalised an agreement with Spectra Solar Park (SSPL) to invest $17.7m in a 35 MW solar project in Bangladesh.  The project will provide 50GWh of clean power once operational, and will be co-financed by KfW Group subsidiary Deutsche Investitions.

The government of South Africa is reportedly planning to revive the idea of a new civilian nuclear programme to solve the country’s power supply problem. French news agency AFP has reported that the plans are being readied for a 2,500MW nuclear programme, and the government will soon seek information on a nuclear-build programme.

Pakistan’s ACT Wind has signed a deal with Xinjiang Goldwind Science Technology to purchase 50MW of wind turbines for the Phase II ACT project. The solar power plant consists of 20 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 1.5 MW.
