Energy firms in Montenegro are planning to invest a total of $1.17bn (€1bn) to ease the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The firms plans to spend $859.9m (€734.6m) of this over the next four years. The majority of these investments will be made by state-owned energy firms Elektroprivreda Crne Gore, Crnogorski Elektrodistributivni Sistem, and Crnogorski Elektroprenosni Sistem as Balkan Green Energy News reported.
Balfour Beatty has temporarily closed a plant supplying concrete for the construction of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in the UK after 19 staff tested positive for Covid-19. The construction firm said it conducted a ‘deep clean’ of the facility over the weekend and it has started contact tracing using the national program.
Acciona has inaugurated the first grid-connected floating solar photovoltaic solar plant in Spain with an installed capacity of 1.125MW at peak. Located in Spain’s autonomous community of Extremadura, the facility uses 3,000 PV modules of different types, including bi-facial modules. The array covers an area of 12,000m².
Duke Energy has started the construction of nearly 100MW of new solar capacity in North Carolina. The 69MW Maiden Creek solar facility and the 25-MW Gaston solar facility will feature nearly 400,000 solar panels. Both projects are slated to come online by the end of this year.
