The UK Government has delayed the final decision on two offshore wind farms – Orsted’s Hornsea Three project and Vatenfall’s Norfolk Vanguard. The Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) today announced it would make a decision on the two windfarms on 1 July. The projects are planned for the Southern North Sea.
India’s Adani Power has stated its 1,600MW thermal power project in the state of Jharkhand has been postponed due to the country’s lockdown as a result of Covid-19. Once operational, the project is expected to supply 1,496MW to the Bangladesh Power Development Board.
Covid-19 may lead to delays in achieving milestones of several power projects in the pipeline in Pakistan. This includes the 1,124MW Kohala Hydropower Project, to which the government granted an extension to the validity of its Letter of Support (LOS). The also announced the 102 MW Gulpur Hydropower Project has achieved its commercial operation date.
India’s state-owned power firm NTPC stated it has offered an online learning facility to over 19,000 employees during the lockdown period imposed due to Covid-19. A company statement said work on training its employees was taken up during the lockdown period.
