China has said that the Covid-19 pandemic is not likely to have any adverse impact on the construction of new nuclear power facility in the short term. All 15 under-construction nuclear reactor units have recommenced construction and no plants currently in operation have been suspended during the outbreak.
Longview Power has filed for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection due to current low energy prices, which have further dipped recently because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The company filed for protection with a prepacked restructuring proposal that aims to eliminate the financial burden while maintaining payments to all vendors.
The Plant Vogtle nuclear power facility has confirmed that an additional 35 workers have tested positive for coronavirus. A Georgia Power spokesperson said it is waiting for the results of 42 workers, while 128 employees have tested negative. The company also said that construction work continues at the site under new enhanced protocols to minimise contact between the workers.
India has decided to set up new renewable energy manufacturing and export services hubs to lessen the impact of the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak on the domestic solar industry, which heavily relies on imports. The federal government has urged all states and ports to identify land parcels of 50-500 acres for setting up the manufacturing and export services hubs.
