Umweltgerechte Kraftanlagen (UKA), a German wind and solar park developer, has placed an order with the Nordex Group for 80 turbines from the Delta4000 series.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This order, aimed at powering various wind energy projects across Germany, will contribute a total capacity of 540MW.

Nordex is set to supply turbines for 15 of UKA's wind energy projects spread over six German states.

The bulk of the order comprises 64 units of the latest turbine type N175/6.X.

Additionally, the contract includes an order for 13 N163/6.X turbines and three N149/5.X turbines.

Furthermore, Nordex is contracted to provide two decades of service for these turbines under a premium service agreement once the wind farms commence operations in 2026.

UKA Group managing director Stefan Kath said: “This order increases the project volume that UKA currently has in the construction phase with Nordex in Germany to a total of 1,070MW. This is a sign of confidence in the quality of Nordex’s products and management.”

Nordex said one of the most substantial individual orders within this deal involves the Herzberg-Granzin wind farm in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The project will feature nine N175/6.X turbines alongside three N149/5.X turbines, contributing to a total capacity of 78MW at this site alone.

The N175/6.X turbines, which represent a significant portion of this order, will be mounted on concrete hybrid towers, which are designed in-house by Nordex and stand at a hub height of 179m.

UKA’s order is an extension of a framework agreement between UKA and Nordex that was renewed in November 2023.

Nordex Group vice-president region central Karsten Brüggemann said: “The success of the energy transition in Germany is not only the result of good technology but also of long-term partnership between all those involved.

“The new wind farms will further support the path of self-sufficient energy supply in the state. After all, wind is a domestic energy source in Germany and not a scarce resource to be imported.”

In January last year, Nordex secured orders from UKA totalling 197.1MW for seven wind projects in regions including Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia.
