TotalEnergies and its partners have commissioned the Yunlin offshore wind farm in Taiwan, which is now fully operational and generating renewable electricity at its planned capacity of 640MW.

TotalEnergies holds a 29.46% share in Yunneng Wind Power, the joint venture overseeing the project.

The remaining stakeholders are Skyborn Renewables with 31.98%, EGCO Group with 26.56% and Sojitz with 12%.

Skyborn led the project’s development and construction with the backing of the other partners.

The Yunlin offshore wind farm is located 15km from the west coast of Taiwan, in water depths of up to 35m.

The project features 80 wind turbines, each with an 8MW capacity.

The clean energy generated by the project is supplied to the Taiwanese grid and contracted to Taiwan Power Company (TPC) under two 20-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) at an average rate of $165/megawatt hours (MWh).

The Yunlin offshore wind farm generates 2.4 terawatt hours (TWh) of renewable electricity annually, supplying power to more than 600,000 Taiwanese households and cutting CO₂ emissions by 1.2 million tonnes.

Following the commercial operations date in June 2025, TotalEnergies will take charge of technical operations management, while Skyborn Renewables will maintain responsibility for other management services.

In Asia, TotalEnergies has a renewable energy portfolio of more than 23GW (solar, wind, and batteries), with 50% already operational or under construction.

TotalEnergies Renewables senior vice-president Olivier Jouny stated: “We are very pleased to be inaugurating the Yunlin offshore wind farm, as we take a new step forward in our offshore wind development.

“This 640MW project will help us achieve our 2025 targets for 35GW of gross renewable capacity and over 50TWh of net electricity production, amounting to 10% of TotalEnergies’ energy output.

“Our role as technical operator on Yunlin will allow us to strengthen our offshore wind competencies as we look ahead to our future projects in Germany, Denmark and the UK.”
