Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) has entered two power purchase agreements with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) to supply a total of 350MW of power from two solar projects.

TPREL is a division of the Indian independent power producer Tata Power.

To be located in the Indian state of Maharashtra, one project will generate 200MW and the other 150MW.

Expected to be commissioned in mid-2025, the projects will play a crucial role in fulfilling the state’s renewable energy targets.

They are a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to deploy renewable energy and fight against climate change.

The 200MW solar project will generate 536 million units of power while reducing carbon emissions by 428,800 tonnes (t) annually.

The 150MW solar project will generate 389 million units of power and reduce carbon emissions by 311,200t annually.

The company has agreed to supply a total of 930MW to MSEDCL; 335MW is currently being supplied and the remaining 596W will be commissioned between August 2023 and February 2025.

In June 2023, the company secured a letter of award to build a 966MW hybrid renewable power project for Tata Steel, providing 379MW of solar and 587MW of wind power capacity.
