SSE Renewables and FuturEnergy Ireland have submitted a planning application for the Cummeennabuddoge wind farm, a 122MW renewable energy project in Ireland, to An Bord Pleanala, Ireland's national independent planning body.
The proposed wind farm, with the capacity to power 81,900 homes annually, would be situated 5km northwest of Ballyvourney on the border of Counties Cork and Kerry.
Cummeennabuddoge Wind DAC, the entity behind the application, anticipates that the 17-turbine facility would significantly contribute to the region's clean energy supply and carbon emission reduction goals.
The project would deliver substantial local benefits, including the creation of 130 jobs during its construction phase.
The wind farm's potential output of 375,000 megawatt hours of electricity per year could displace 4.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions over its operational lifespan.
The planning process for the Cummeennabuddoge wind farm has been thorough, with extensive consultations with residents initiated in the winter of 2020.
The project's advancement is contingent upon receiving the necessary planning consents, establishing a market route, and a final investment decision from the co-development partners.
