Q Energy, a European renewable energy developer, has sold a 73.2MW French renewable energy project portfolio to Italian energy company ERG.
The portfolio sold by Q Energy includes two operational solar photovoltaic farms, one in the Gironde area and the other in the Pyrénées Orientales, with a combined installed capacity of 20.4 megawatts peak (MWp).
A third solar project with 28.8MWp capacity, which is in an advanced construction phase, was also included in the sale.
Located in the Pays de la Loire region, the project will begin operations in the second quarter of 2024.
It is supported by a 15-year power purchase agreement signed with a leading French retail company.
The fourth project in the portfolio includes a 24MW wind farm in the final phase of commissioning. This is currently undergoing repowering and is located in the Aude region.
The total annual amount of energy generation from the portfolio is 125 gigawatt-hours. It will offset 64,000 tons of CO₂ emissions.
The two operational solar projects and the wind farm are supported by a 20-year CfD tariff regime.
Q Energy France deputy managing director Joshua Lim stated: “We are thrilled to announce the sale of our 73.2MW portfolio of renewable energy projects to ERG. This collaboration underscores our shared dedication to driving impactful change in the renewable energy landscape.
“It also represents a pivotal moment for both organisations, as we collectively accelerate progress towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.”
In September 2023, Q Energy started construction on Les Ilots Blandin, a 74.3MW floating solar facility in north-west France.
The plant had a capacity of 66MW, which was increased to 74.3MW with design improvements.
Scheduled for provisional commissioning in the first quarter of 2025, it will be one of the largest floating solar plants in Europe.
