German wind turbine maker Nordex has secured orders totalling 197.1MW from wind and solar developer UKA for seven wind projects in Germany.
The projects will be located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia.
Nordex will supply 32 turbines from its Delta4000 series ranging from 4MW to 6MW of power generating capacity.
UKA has ordered a range of turbine models including the N133/4800, N149/5.X, N163/5.X and N163/6.X. Catering to the specific needs of each project, they will ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
Nordex will provide maintenance and support for the turbines for 20 years.
The latest order from UKA is part of a medium-term framework agreement between the two companies, which was extended in November 2023.
The agreement outlines UKA's plans to order further turbines from Nordex for projects in Germany.
These projects, currently in the approval process, will contribute 1GW of capacity to the national grid, significantly bolstering Germany's renewable energy infrastructure.
UKA managing partner Gernot Gauglitz stated: “Nordex’s turbine technology, which has been continuously developed over the past few years on the tried-and-tested Delta platform, stands for quality, high availability and reliable power generation.
“This deal shows that the industry is in the starting blocks – now it is the turn of the authorities to significantly speed up the approval procedures for wind farms.”
Nordex Group central region sales director Felipe Villalon Waldburg-Zeil stated: “We are very pleased with these orders from UKA, as well as the opportunity to further expand our cooperation through reliable, stable and predictable growth.
“Our goal is to always offer our customers the best technological solutions for their renewable energy projects. We are therefore proud to once again support UKA in driving forward the energy transition in Germany.”
In December 2023, Nordex secured three orders for the supply of turbines to Scotland, UK, totalling 150MW.
Nordex will supply seven N149/5.X turbines for the first wind farm there.
For the second, it will supply and install seven N149/5.X turbines and two N133/4.8 turbines.
The order for the third wind farm will consist of 11 N149/5.X turbines.
