Nordex secures 100MW wind turbine order in Canada

The turbines will be delivered to a wind farm being developed in Québec.

The Nordex Group has secured a 100MW wind turbine supply order from a Canadian customer.

Under the contract, Nordex has agreed to deliver 19 units of its N163/5.X wind turbines.

However, the company did not disclose the name of the customer or the name of the wind farm.

The contract stipulates that the turbines will be delivered to a wind farm being developed in Québec.

These turbines will be mounted on 125m-high steel towers and are scheduled for installation in mid-2026.

The customer has opted for the cold-climate version of the turbines, which will be equipped with the Nordex Advanced Anti-icing System on the rotor blades.

This turbine technology is designed to maximise electricity production by minimising power losses, especially during the colder months.

To date, the Nordex Group has installed over 53GW of wind power capacity across more than 40 markets.

The company employs more than 10,200 people and operates manufacturing facilities in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India, Mexico, and the US.

Last month, Nordex announced that it had received orders for 500MW of wind turbines for projects in Canada.

The order included 74 of the company’s N163 turbines, along with service agreements lasting between 15 and 30 years.

The turbines are scheduled for delivery in 2025 and 2026 for undisclosed projects and customers.

The company noted that so far, it has sold nearly 1.2GW of turbines in Canada.

In July this year, Nordex installed its first N175/6.X turbine at a community wind farm in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, to conduct testing.

The turbine, designed for light to medium wind conditions, has a rotor-swept area of 24,053m² and a nominal capacity of 6.8MW.
