Gensol Engineering has secured a turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order for a 150MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Maharashtra, India.

The project, valued at Rs7.8bn ($92.7m), was awarded by a public sector utility in the state.

Gensol will manage the complete project lifecycle, including land acquisition, design, engineering, procurement, logistics, construction and commissioning, over 15 months.

The contract also encompasses three years of operation and maintenance services, ensuring the longevity and efficiency of the plant's switchyard and transmission infrastructure.

The initiative aligns with the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's (MNRE) policy launched in April 2022 to enhance Maharashtra's energy infrastructure and contribute to India's sustainable energy targets.

In October 2024, Gensol Engineering collaborated with Matrix Gas & Renewables to establish the first and largest green hydrogen-powered steel facility in India.

The collaboration is part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission and is supported by three pilot programmes sanctioned by Metallurgical & Engineering Consultants, in collaboration with the Ministry of Steel and the MNRE.
