GE Vernova has completed its acquisition of Woodward’s heavy-duty gas turbine combustion parts division based in Greenville in the US state of South Carolina.

The company’s gas power global supply chain leader Shane Long will lead the newly acquired team.

GE Vernova has acquired all assets related to Woodward’s Greenville site, although the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

The move is part of GE Vernova's ongoing strategy to enhance investment in US manufacturing and employment, while simultaneously strengthening its domestic supply chain.

GE Vernova gas power president and CEO Eric Gray stated: “The completion of this acquisition adds resilience to our supply chain, aiming to deliver greater value to our customers and the energy sector.

“I’m excited to now officially welcome these experts to the GE Vernova team and integrate them into our business.”

The combustion parts produced at the Greenville facility play a key role in GE Vernova's gas turbines, helping customers to address increasing energy demands from sectors such as load growth, data centres and other key industries.

The completion of the deal complements GE Vernova's previously announced plans to invest $160m and recruit 650 new employees at its Greenville facility.

In February 2025, NRG Energy, GE Vernova, and Kiewit’s The Industrial Company launched a venture to expand US electricity generation for growing computing power and GenAI demand.

The initiative combines the expertise of a power generation firm, an original equipment manufacturer and an engineering, procurement and construction company to provide efficient, rapid power solutions for GenAI.

The venture seeks to reduce the concept-to-electron timeline, enabling faster deployment of electricity generation capacity to meet growing demand.
