Arctech secures 1.5GW solar project deal in UAE

The deal launches the company's Middle East entry, supporting UAE's zero-emission Energy Strategy 2050.

Solar equipment manufacturer Arctech has agreed to supply 1.5GW of its SkyLine II single-axis solar tracking system to PowerChina for the Al Ajban solar photovoltaic (PV) independent power project in the United Arab Emirates.

The deal marks the company's entry into the Middle East market. The initiative aligns with the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, aimed at achieving zero-emission clean energy.

The Al Ajban solar PV project will be situated in the Ajban area of Abu Dhabi and will be one of the largest single-site solar plants in the world.

The project is expected to generate enough green electricity to meet the needs of 160,000 households and reduce Abu Dhabi's carbon emissions by 2.4 million tonnes annually.

Al Ajban solar plant, together with Noor Abu Dhabi and the Al Dhafra solar plant, will boost Abu Dhabi's solar power capacity to 4GW, cutting carbon emissions by six million metric tonnes annually.

Since 2017, Arctech has been expanding its presence in the Middle East with a service centre, a research and development centre, two local offices and a manufacturing base.

The Jeddah Phase II manufacturing base, currently under construction, is set to commence operations in 2025. This expansion, alongside Arctech's global supply chain, will boost the company's local delivery capacity to 15GW.

Arctech's comprehensive service network in the Middle East includes technical support, supply chain delivery, after-sales service, local operation and maintenance, and brand marketing strategies.

In December 2024, Arctech's SkyLine II system was selected for Azerbaijan's largest utility-scale solar project, a 312MW plant in the Garadagh Gobi Desert.

Arctech also signed a deal to supply 2.3GW of SkyLine II solar trackers to the PIF4-Haden project in Saudi Arabia, operated by Acwa Power, in October 2024.
