Westinghouse Electric Company has formalised a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Celeros Flow Technology (Celeros FT) to back new nuclear construction projects in Canada and across the globe.

Celeros FT designs and manufactures nuclear pumps and valves at four certified facilities, with its primary site in Burlington, Ontario.

Celeros FT could be tasked with the design and fabrication of essential components for the AP1000 and AP300 reactor projects.

Celeros FT president and CEO Jose Larios stated: “We are delighted to be a partner of choice for Westinghouse on their nuclear new-build programme. Celeros FT is committed to developing flow control solutions that help to deliver clean energy to the world, and nuclear is one of our focus industries.

“Our winning combination of engineering expertise and fully accredited global facilities offers full lifecycle support to customers of our nuclear pumps and valves, ensuring that nuclear power plants operate safely and efficiently.”

The latest deal forms part of a series of collaborations with Canadian businesses to assist Westinghouse’s global AP1000 and AP300 initiatives.

Each AP1000 unit constructed outside Canada could generate C$1bn in local gross domestic product from regional suppliers, boosting the economy.

The agreement highlights the critical role of domestic manufacturing in supporting the global deployment of advanced reactors.

Westinghouse energy systems president Dan Lipman stated: “Celeros FT’s known pumping technology and diverse range of high-quality industrial valves are used in nuclear plants around the world, helping contribute to safe and efficient plant operations.

“Their engineered-to-order products and solutions will help us expand our AP1000 technology and introduce new AP300 projects in Canada and around the world, enhancing Canada’s global reputation as a leader in clean energy innovation.”

In March 2025, Westinghouse signed an MoU with Shawflex to advance nuclear projects in Canada and globally.
