Electrical engineering company Smith Brothers has been appointed as an independent connections provider (ICP) for two new windpower projects in Perth and Kinross, Scotland.
The two farms will comprise a total of eleven turbines that will deliver a combined power output of 23.55MW.

Around 14.35MW will be generated by seven turbines at the Tullymurdoch site and 9.2MW will be provided by four turbines at the Welton of Creuchies site, which is a joint venture (JV) between the landowner, local community and Green Cat Renewable Developments.
Once operational, the generated power will be supplied to Scotland’s SSE network.
Under the deal, Smith Brothers will be responsible for the installation of a 14.5km 33kV cable circuit and a fibre optic link that will help connect the project sites to the SSE primary substation at Coupar Angus.
In addition, the company will carry out installation, testing and commissioning of several pieces of equipment such as the SSE switchboard, auxiliary transformer, battery chargers and associated gear.

The electrical engineering contractor will also construct and install the Tullymurdoch substation, in addition to testing and commissioning its switchboard, a 110V battery charger and associated equipment.
The windfarms are expected to be completed in January, 2018.
