Yunneng Wind Power, a subsidiary of Skyborn Renewables, has successfully installed all 80 foundations at the 640MW Yunlin offshore wind project in Taiwan, signifying a major step towards the project’s full completion by the end of 2024.
With this achievement, the Yunlin offshore wind farm remains on schedule, bolstering Taiwan’s renewable energy capacity.

The project has seen significant progress, with 68 turbines already in place and 52 of them actively supplying clean electricity to the grid.
Furthermore, Yunneng Wind Power has also installed 56 out of the 69 inner array grids and all 12 export cables.
Skyborn Renewables highlighted that the Yunlin offshore wind farm is the first in the region to surpass its localisation commitments, engaging more than the required efforts.
The project has involved Taiwan’s major manufacturers, Formosa Heavy Industries and CTCI Machinery, to deliver 40 monopiles and 40 transition pieces as part of its key localization initiatives.

By GlobalDataSituated in the Taiwan Strait, the Yunlin offshore wind farm spans an 82km2 area and will feature 80 turbines.
These turbines are strategically located between eight and 17km off Taiwan’s west coast, with varying water depths from seven to 35m.
Upon completion, the electricity generated will be channelled into the Taiwanese power grid through two onshore substations near Taixi and Sihu in Yunlin County.
The energy produced by the Yunlin offshore wind project will be sold to Taiwan Power Co. under two 20-year power purchase agreements (PPAs).
Once operational, the 640MW Yunlin offshore wind farm is set to become Taiwan’s second-largest offshore wind farm. It is projected to generate sufficient clean energy to meet the electricity needs of over 600,000 Taiwanese households.

In August last year, German renewables developer Skyborn Renewables, along with its partners Yunneng Wind Power, TotalEnergies, the Electricity Generating Public Company, and Sojitz, secured financing for the 640MW Yunlin offshore wind farm project in Taiwan.
