Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has signed an agreement to support the development of up to 1GW of wind energy in Turkey.
The company will be part of a consortium, which includes local infrastructure development firm Kalyon Enerji and the Turkish investor Turkerler Holding.

The project was awarded to the consortium at Turkey’s first wind auction held in August last year.
As per the agreement, Siemens Gamesa will be responsible for delivering, installing and commissioning turbines for several windfarms. It will also provide maintenance services for 15 years.
In addition, the agreement includes a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) and a commitment to build nearly 700MW by 2022.
Siemens Gamesa has agreed to build a research and development (R&D) centre and a nacelle factory to meet local government supply demands.
