Spanish wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has secured a contract from Sembcorp Green Infra, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Energy India.
Sembcorp Energy is an independent power producer and has been engaged in identifying, developing and operating power generation assets in India’s thermal and renewable power sectors.

Under the engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) contract, SGRE will be build a 300MW wind farm and install 143 SG 2.1-122 turbines at the site.
Siemens Gamesa will also be providing the infrastructure required for completing the wind farm that will be built in the state of Gujarat, Western India.
The turbine maker has also agreed to maintain the wind farm for a period of ten years.
After being commissioned next April, the wind farm will be integrated with India’s Interstate Transmission System, and the power will be supplied to multiple states across the country and help them to meet their renewable energy requirement.
Siemens Gamesa India onshore division CEO Ramesh Kymal said: “This contract marks a landmark in Siemens Gamesa’s strategy in India on account of both the size of the project and the technology selected.
“Moreover, it sends a very positive signal regarding the market’s momentum and shores up our confidence in its full recovery.”
