Wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has entered a new agreement with Spanish utility company Gas Natural Fenosa Renovables to supply 48 wind turbines for four windfarm developments in the country.
The windfarms will have a combined power-generation capacity of 166MW.
Gas Natural Fenosa Renovables secured the projects through an auction process held in May last year.
As part of the deal, Siemens Gamesa will be responsible for supplying its 48 SG 3.4-132 wind turbines.
SGRE has also agreed to operate and maintain these four windfarms for a period of three years.
The windfarm projects are expected to be commissioned by mid-next year.
The blades for the SG 3.4-132 wind turbines will be manufactured at the Aoiz factory in Navarre, Spain, and the Tangier factory in Morocco. The nacelles will be produced at the Ágreda facility in Soria, Spain.
SGRE has been working with Gas Natural Fenosa since 1997 and is reported to have supplied more than 670MW, most of which in Spain and Mexico.
With the new order, SGRE intends to further strengthen its position in the Spanish energy market.
SGRE is reportedly the current leading OEM in Spain, having installed nearly 55% of the country’s total installed base.
