Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa has secured a contract from France-based power company Engie for installing 260MW of clean energy at a wind project in Peru.
Located in the southern region of Ica, the Punta Lomitas wind farm is Engie’s first renewable project in the country.
The farm will include 50 units of Siemens Gamesa’s SG 5.0-145 onshore turbines operating at capacities from 5MW to 5.2MW.
It is expected to come online by the first quarter of 2023.
Siemens Gamesa, which currently has 164 MW of installed capacity in Peru, has also agreed to provide long-term operation and maintenance services for the project.
The company currently offers these services to five wind facilities in the country.
