Siemens Energy Management has secured a contract from German energy company Innogy for grid connection at Triton Knoll offshore wind farm in the UK.
Located 32km off the Lincolnshire coast, Triton Knoll will have an installed generation capacity of 860MW upon completion.

The wind farm will be capable of generating clean power sufficient to power nearly 800,000 UK homes, and is also expected to support the UK’s renewable energy targets.

As per the terms of the contract, Siemens will be leading the construction of a new onshore substation at Bicker Fen, as well as offshore infrastructure that includes two offshore transformer modules (OTM).
Siemens OTM is small in size and weighs less than traditional alternating current platforms.
Construction related works for a new bellmouth entry point and 3.8km access road to the new substation construction site are already underway.
The company will begin onshore substation construction in early next year.
The Triton Knoll project is expected to support around 3,000 employment opportunities during the construction phase and 170 in the operational phase.
Upon completion, Triton Knoll will be the tenth UK offshore wind farm for Siemens.
