PPC Renewables, a fully owned subsidiary of PPC Group, has placed an order with Nordex Group for 19 N149/5.X turbines, totalling 100MW nominal capacity, for projects in Greece.

The turbines, with hub heights of 100m, are designated for three wind farms: Rodopi, Livadaki and Timenio, located in northern Greece, Phocis and Arcadia respectively.

The agreement includes a Premium Service contract for the maintenance of the turbines over 20 years.

Nordex Group CSO Patxi Landa stated: “With these new orders, we are solidifying our position as a key player in the Greek market. We have surpassed the mark of 1GW sold turbines and are proud of this success since we reactivated our business in Greece in 2018.

“And we are very glad to partner now also with PPC Renewables. With the Delta4000 series, PPC will obtain a technology that will optimise the energy output of their wind farms.”

Upon completion in 2026, the wind farms will generate more than 280 gigawatt hours (GWh) annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by more than 142,000 tonnes.

The order enables Nordex Group to surpass the 1GW mark of sold turbines in Greece.

In addition to the Greek orders, Nordex Group has secured orders totalling 259MW from four customers in Spain: 42 turbines 27 N163/5.X and 13 N163/6.X models, and two N149/5.X models.

The service contracts for these turbines range from ten to 25 years, depending on the project.

The Spanish wind farms are being developed in Castilla y León, Navarra, Andalusia and Aragón.

Installation of the turbines, to be mounted on tubular steel towers with hub heights between 105m and 119m, is scheduled to begin in autumn 2025, with commissioning expected by the end of 2025.

Landa stated: “Adding the orders received last summer for the large-scale Baza Cluster project with 265MW, Nordex Group received new orders with a total volume of over 524MW last year in Spain. The proven success of our N163 turbines continues to pay off and continues to consolidate our good market position in the country.”
