Indian public sector company NTPC is set to build two hydroelectric projects (HEPs) in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government to set up the two projects, which will have a combined capacity of 520MW. The MoU was signed at the Power Conclave organised by the state government in Shimla.

The two projects, Seli and Miyar HEPs, will be located in Chenab Basin at Lahaul and Spiti areas. With a capacity of 400MW, Seli HEP is a run of river project with a pondage scheme whilst the 120MW Miyar HEP is a run of river project without a pondage scheme.
NTPC already runs the Koldam hydro power station in Himachal Pradesh. The project, with an installed capacity of 800MW, has been commercially operational since July 2015 and accounts for nearly 28% power to the state.
Headquartered in New Delhi, NTPC is engaged in power and electricity generation and ancillary activities.
In another development, NTPC has stated that Unit-1 of the 800MW Lara Super Thermal power station in the Indian state of Chhatisgarh enter commercial operations on 30 September.
