Vestas

Vestas has received two turbine supply contracts totalling 98MW for windfarms in Uruguay and Denmark.

TaxWay, the Uruguayan subsidiary of industrial infrastructure development company Cobra, has contracted Vestas to supply 16 V126-3.3MW turbines for the Vientos de Pastorale windfarm.

The V126-3.3MW wind turbine enables higher energy capture in areas with low-to-medium wind, producing more energy at a reduced cost, the company said.

Vestas will take responsibility to supply, install and commission the wind turbines at the 53MW windpower project to be located in the south-western province of Flores, Uruguay.

Delivery of the turbines is scheduled for the third quarter of this year, with plans to commission in the first quarter of 2017.

The Vientos de Pastorale windfarm is expected to generate 223GWh of clean energy per annum, which will be enough to power nearly 50,000 households.

Vestas Mediterranean president Marco Graziano said: "With 344MW already installed and around 170MW under construction, Vestas leads Uruguay’s wind energy industry with approximately 35% market share.

"Vientos de Pastorale will be the second project that Vestas signs with Cobra and we look forward to putting our expertise and cutting-edge technologies at the disposal of such a valued partner."

"The Vientos de Pastorale windfarm is expected to generate 223GWh of clean energy per annum."

Under a separate 45MW contract with Hogager Vindpark, Vestas will supply 21 pieces of V100-2.0MW wind turbines, with 17 of these delivered in power optimised mode to 2.2MW.

The turbines will be installed at a windfarm near Hogager in the municipality of Hol-stebro, Denmark. They will be delivered in the third quarter of this year with commissioning in the fourth quarter.

Vestas Northern Europe president Klaus Steen Mortensen said: "Denmark continues to be an important market for Vestas and we are proud to be delivering Denmark’s soon-to-be third largest onshore windpark.

"The order is evidence of a home market with a strong local interest for onshore wind projects that we hope will be reflected in a long-term supportive framework."

Both contracts include a ten-year active output management (AOM) 4000 service agreement.
