Vestas has secured an order for 29MW of its V110-2.0MW turbine components from an undisclosed customer.

Through this unconditional order, Vestas' turbine components will enable the customer to repower wind projects within its  operating project portfolio. The components will be manufactured at Vestas’ Colorado factories and the turbines will be delivered in the beginning of 2017.

Vestas claimed that repowering existing and aging wind projects with new technology is expected to increase over the coming years, with repowering offering substantial returns from increased annual energy production and reduced operating costs.

"Vestas’ repowering solutions will be used to unlock even more value and performance from existing wind projects."

Vestas' sales and services division in the US and Canada president Chris Brown said: “At Vestas, we always look for ways to add value through collaboration and innovation in our technology and solutions.

“Vestas’ repowering solution is an example of this and will be used to unlock even more value and performance from existing wind projects.”

The company designs, manufactures, installs, and services wind turbines across the globe.

It has 68GW of wind turbines under service.

Vestas has over 21,900 employees across its operations.
