US-based SunPower and Consumers Energy are collaborating to introduce new rooftop solar pilot programme Solar Distributed Generation (DG) in Michigan.
As part of the programme, a full-service home solar solution will be offered across 32 counties in the state. SunPower will provide a no-cost site assessment, customised system design, quality installation, industry-leading warranty, long-term financing options, and other benefits to participating homeowners.
Each SunPower solar energy system will be designed and sized to meet the individual requirements of e-consumers. Any excess generation not used onsite will provide credit on the homeowner's monthly energy bill under Michigan’s net metering programme.
SunPower's executive vice-president Martin DeBono said: “We look forward to supporting a sustainable energy future in Michigan through this programme, which combines SunPower's 30 years of experience delivering high-performance solar solutions with Consumers Energy's 130-year history of providing reliable electricity to Michigan homeowners.
“SunPower offers record-breaking solar technology that generates 60% more energy in the same space over the first 25 years compared to conventional panels, while looking superb on any roof.”
The SunPower Equinox platform will also be available through the DG programme.
