Italian firm Prysmian Group has been awarded a contract to provide and install the land cable connections for the UK's East Anglia ONE offshore wind project.
Located in England, the £2.5bn offshore windfarm features 102 wind turbines capable of producing enough power to supply electricity for 500,000 UK households.

Awarded by UK-based East Anglia One company, the £27m contract covers delivery and installation of a 220kV double circuit underground cable to link the 102 wind turbines to the power grid.
Covering approximately 37km, the underground cable will be connected from the Bawdsey shore landing to a new substation in Bramford.
Under the contract, Prysmian will carry out the system design, supply, deployment and testing of the cables, as well as their accessories.
Manufactured by Prysmian, the 220kV double circuit high-voltage cables will be laid underground by the company’s UK-based installation unit.
Prysmian UK CEO Llyr Roberts said: “We are delighted to be involved in a world-leading project of this significance for the UK renewable energy sector.”
While the pre-construction work is due to start early this year, the underground cable installation task is planned to be executed between this October and September 2018.
To complete the cable installation project, the company will employ approximately 50 people to carry out the work.
