NTPC has placed an order for two 660MW supercritical-pressure boilers with L&T-MHPS Boilers, which will be installed at Unit 1 and 2 of a supercritical-pressure thermal power generation plant in Uttar Pradesh, a state in India.
L&T-MHPS Boilers is a joint venture by Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T).
The two large-scale boilers are expected to be delivered and commissioned at the facility in July 2018 and January 2019, respectively.
As well as being responsible for the production and supply of the two units, L&T-MHPS Boilers will also continue with their installation and commissioning at the site.
The pressure parts and other core components of the two boilers will supplied to L&T-MHPS Boilers by MHPS.
The facility will be built in the Tanda district in the Indian state. It is expected to meet the growing power requirements of the region.

By GlobalDataNTPC is an Indian power producer. It accounts for almost 25% of the country’s thermal power generation capacity.
The expansion in power generation capacity has not been able to keep pace with increasing demand in the country, resulting in serious power shortages in some regions.
In order to overcome this situation, the country has launched several large-scale power projects. Construction of the Tanda Power Plant is part of this broad initiative.
