Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) has opened a global service centre (GSC) for thermal power plant operators focused on the Southeast Asia region.
This centre will support the optimal operation and maintenance (O&M) of thermal power plants, as well as help operators harness the latest information and communications technology (ICT) such as remote monitoring. It will also offer training to O&M engineers.
To start providing services this year, this centre follows completion of remote monitoring centres in Takasago in 1999 and Orlando in 2001.
The centre will open with around 20 employees and provide services such as management of maintenance parts and dispatch of emergency personnel. It will also offer solutions for improving early fault detection and optimised outage management, as well as data collection and forecasting analysis.
In addition, it will feature an operations simulator to facilitate response training for various scenarios to allow client engineering teams to gain advanced skills. GSC will be used as a base to provide services to a wide range of operators, including remote monitoring, control, O&M and single-point centralised management optimised for each power plant.
