Socotec has reached an agreement to acquire Environmental Scientifics Group (ESG) from 3i Group (3i) for £30m ($37.15m).
The acquisition is expected to be closed by 25 March.
Based in the UK, the target company provides testing, inspection, and compliance services to the energy and waste industry, with 28 sites in the UK and Ireland. ESG is a risk management services provider based in France.
Daiwa Corporate Advisory and KPMG International Cooperative are the financial advisors to 3i for the transaction, while Travers Smith is the legal advisor.
Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco) plans to acquire Toshiba Corporation’s 60% stake in UK-based power generation company, NuGeneration.
ENGIE holds the remaining 40% stake in the target company.

Reliance Wind Turbine Installators Industries has acquired a 6.42% stake in Reliance Power from Reliance Infradevelopment.
The purchase consideration for the acquisition was Rs8,583m ($130.97m) and it was completed by purchasing 180 million shares of the target company in three different tranches of 60 million shares each.
Reliance Wind Turbine Installation paid Rs47.7 ($0.72) a share in the first tranche, and Rs48.1 ($0.73) and Rs47.25 ($0.72) a share respectively in the second and third tranches.
All companies involved in the transaction are based in India.
Arkados Group has reached an agreement to acquire SolBright Renewable Energy for $15m in a combination of cash, debt and stock on or before 31 March 2017.
Based in the US, Arkados Group provides software development and system integration solutions to enable the use of internet of things (IoT) for commercial and industrial customers. SolBright Renewable Energy is a design and development company also based in the US.
Arkados Group expects the acquisition to help expand its energy solutions business into renewables, while creating more opportunities for its IoT solutions.
