Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology subsidiary Goldwind Americas has entered a deal with Renewable Energy Systems Americas (RES) to purchase the 160MW Heart of Texas wind project in McCulloch County, US.
Situated around 125 miles northwest of Austin, the project will use 64 Goldwind GW 121/2.5MW permanent magnet direct-drive (PMDD) wind turbines, which are 109m tall.
Goldwind Americas' sales and business development vice-president Vikaas Rao-Aourpallysaid: “The partnership with RES on the Heart of Texas wind project further demonstrates the strong accreditation of Goldwind's industry-leading PMDD turbine technology in the US wind market.
“We are proud to again partner with RES, a leading renewable energy developer and constructor, to continue to grow Goldwind's presence in the Americas.”
Goldwind provided bridge financing to acquire the Heart of Texas project. Along with major financial institutions, the company is also in the process of arranging a financing package that will include construction and tax equity financing, as well as a long-term Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) fixed price hedge for power production.
Last month, Goldwind received tax equity financing commitments from Berkshire Hathaway Energy and Citi for the $250m Rattlesnake wind project in McCulloch County, Texas.
