By GlobalDataThe Topolobampo III plant will also feature GE’s digital power plant capabilities, which use advanced control systems powered by Predix. Users of the GE platform can use real-time data to deliver improved outcomes with stable and efficient operations.
The plant will generate 766MW and is expected to be completed by 2020. It will be able to supply power for up to 2.5 million Mexican homes.
Iberdrola's Mexico general director Enrique Alba said: “For Iberdrola, being GE’s first client with this technology in Mexico represents an important step that strengthens the relationship between both companies.
“We have been working together for many years and we’ve always received the most reliable technology from them.
“GE’s technology will be crucial for our expansions in Mexico, where we plan to double our size by 2020.”
In March this year, Iberdrola was contracted to develop the Topolobampo III plant, which requires an investment of around $400m and will sell its entire production to Mexican Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) under a 25-year contract, with fixed capacity fees.
