Gamesa has signed an agreement with energy firm Alpiq for the maintenance of a 69MW wind complex in Sicily, Italy.

Comissioned in 2008, the Ramacca windfarm is equipped with 46 ECO80 turbines.

Gamesa will be responsible for maintenance work at the site for a three-year period.

This contract adds to the company's previous business in Europe, including a contract to deliver 11MW of turbines to the Netherlands, along with a further five contracts in France, Italy, and Greece for the installation of 72MW in total.

Contracts secured in Italy in July covered the supply of ten G114-2.1MW and three G114-2.0MW turbines with a total capacity of 27MW.

With this latest contract with Alpiq, Gamesa continues to strengthen its prescence in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) market, which represented 27% of its sales in Q1 of 2016, an increase from 17% in the same period of 2015.
