EDF Renewable Services has signed a Balance of Plant (BOP) contract with Sumitomo Corporation of Americas to offer operation and maintenance services at the 200MW Mesquite Creek wind facility in Texas, the US.

The operations and maintenance services to be provided include the collection system, substation, transmission lines, switchgear, equipment, transformers, machinery, fibre-optic cables for the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, communication systems, control systems, foundations, poles, O&M facility and road.

Located at Dawson and Borden counties in Texas, the facility has 118 of General Electric’s (GE) 1.7MW turbines.

Expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2015, the plant will supply renewable energy for the US operations of Mars, a global food manufacturer.

According to the agreement, EDF Renewable Services’ NERC compliant Operations Control Center (OCC) will handle the remote services for the facility.
